The two
photos you are about to see are indeed rare moments in time.
During a
BBQ hosted on September 11th, by the Confluence Heritage Society, one of the
unexpected guests was David Thompson Descendant Carson Lloyd with his daughter Cally .
Carson
Lloyd traces his roots directly back through his mom's side through William Thompson a son of David Thompson
and Charlotte Small.
William Thompson was born on
November 9th, 1819
at Williamstown, Glengarry, Ontario. ( as recorded
in the Thompson Family Bible)
Earlier
during the evening I was in the newly built Historic
Site Display area when I noticed this young girl intensely looking
through a replica sextant of David Thompson's time. I took a photo.
It was
only a few moments later that I was informed by her Dad ,
Carson Lloyd, that Cally was his
daughter.
The photo I took therefore as it turned out was
of - a direct Thompson descendant photo
of Cally Lloyd, at the Rocky Mountain House
National Historic Site , peering through a sextant in the museum for the very first
time.
Five feet
from her was the huge replica of her ancestor's 'Great
Map.'
It certainly made my day.
I can't
help but think that David Thompson and Charlotte Small at that moment would have been
smiling.
